Component Matching

• All systems (except Type 2) require component matching
  • 
• Pin Code/ Password
  • HDS will ask for a password.
  • Aftermarket tools usually don’t.

  • IMOES unite might be a separate box (08′ TL, 07′-08′ TSX, etc.)

Key Programming

Type 1-7 Systems Overview

• Many Key Programming Tools will work with Honda/Acura most of the time
• Each time programming is run, all key memory is erased.
  • For Type 1 you need to have all keys present.
• Security Light
  • Blinks ⇢ keys not accepted
  • Goes out but comes back ⇢ component mismatch
• Keys with letters
  • Original key that have a letter on a blade must be replaced with the key that has exactly the same letter
  • T5 stamped on the blade means that the key is for cloning, not programming

Oldest Type (some 1992 – 2001 vehicles)

• 3 pin or 5 pin diagnostic connector (DLC)

• 2000 Civic. Used 3 pin connector (X100)

Type 1

Overview

• I. Need both Red (learning key) and Black (master key) keys
  • If using MVP, don’t put the Red key into ignition unless prompted by the scanner, otherwise the Immobilizer will need to be reprogrammed again.
  • All keys must be present for key programming or they will be erased during the programming procedure.
    • If you have 1 or more existing keys and wish to program additional new keys, the existing keys will become new again, to the vehicle, during the programming procedure and must programmed with the other keys.
• II. If  both keys are not available
  • Option 1. Replace immobilizer computer
    • New IMMO box come with Red and Black keys.
    • Note. IMMO Box & PCM are matched
  • Option 2. Use Transponder Key Programmers

    • Ignition twist knob must be removed to insert the E-keys.

    • MVP Pro should be able to do it.
      • Will use 3 tokens if need to program 2 new E-Sys and Prox keys.

  • 📝 Key Programming | 2017 Honda Fit

    • XTool ➱ Smart Key ➱ Type 3.
    • Will ask you to hold start button to turn ignition on ➱  Enter how many keys you want to program ➱ Press Ok.
    • Here it failed first time. I tried again ➱  It programmed key, but displayed “failed” ➱  Cycled ignition, security light turn off, car started.

  • The immobilizer function uses the GEN 5/GEN 6 protocol, and the immobilizer function is deactivated by mutual communication between the keyless access/TPMS control unit, the PCM, and the MICU via the S-NET.

      • This procedure worked fine, even though at the end it displayed “failed”.
